Great news on the discovery of the largest truffle spread around the world, confirming that the soil in this part of Istria is beneficial for the growth of high quality truffles. On 30 March 2000, this discovery entered the famous Book of World Records.

The exceptional truffle was found by Mr Giancarlo Zigante on 2 November 1999. The truffle weighted exactly 1,310 kg.

This truffle, given the name MILLENNIUM, was not sold; rather, it was served at a dinner for one hundred guests with the objective of promoting the Istrian truffle.

In order to introduce its importance to guests and clients, Mr Zigante decided to have a replica made in bronze, which is now exposed in his shop specialised for truffle products.

Mr Zigante considers this event to be the beginning of one beautiful story, the objective of which is to promote our region as one of the most famous homes to truffles in the world.

On 12 November this year, a traditional gastro event will take place in Livade to celebrate the 12th anniversary of the discovery of the white truffle for Guinness record.
